This is an exceptional location, with over 300 days of sunshine a year and temperatures that never rise above 32 degrees Celsius. The main challenge of this large-scale project was to find the best possible way of installing the greenhouses so that construction could be rolled out in two phases, each spanning two hectares, ensuring maximum use of the available land.
The other major challenge of this project was how to achieve energy savings in a region where the outside temperature can drop as low as -20 degrees Celsius. Building on its expertise in terms of equipment and knowledge of the region, the Richel teams suggested a double inflated film combined with a screen, leading to the same energy savings as for a double screen in a glass greenhouse, but at a more affordable price. Since it has a subsidiary in the region, Richel was able to provide hands-on support at every stage of the project from its design, through to installation and maintenance.
